November 27, 2009, Newsletter Issue #25: Have A Hassle-Free Job Change

Tip of the Week

When you are ready to make a change in your physician job, you can waste a lot of time by scrolling through physician job postings. Especially during stressful economic times, it can be tempting to jump at the first physician jobs available. But these might not be the best jobs for you, and you could find yourself job hunting again in a few months.

Instead, consider working with physician placement services. A physician staffing consultant who knows your specialty can identify pre-screened jobs that meet your personal and professional criteria.

When you talk with your consultant, be as clear as possible about the type of setting in which you’d like to work and the type of work you’d like to do. If you are flexible, be sure that your staffing consultant knows how flexible you are. For example, are you willing to relocate? Do you only want to work in large hospitals?

If you can provide this information to a physician staffing consultant, he or she can do the legwork and quickly identify the best jobs for you.
