February 26, 2010, Newsletter Issue #37: How To Choose Your Recruiter

Tip of the Week

How do you sort through all the physician recruitment services available when you are searching for your next job? The number of physician recruiters can be almost as intimidating as the number of jobs. But keep these points in mind to help you find the right fit with a physician placement service:

· Ask around: Have some of your colleagues recently found jobs using physician recruiters? Ask them about their experiences. Also ask whether they can recommend a specific physician staffing consultant at a particular organization, especially one who knows the employers in your specialty.

· Ask the recruiter: Before you sign on with a physician recruiting service, ask how much experience the recruiter has with placing physicians in your specialty. Ask him or her to explain the process of how the agency presents your resume to potential employers.

The relationship between you and a physician placement service is important to your medical career, so it’s worth making the effort to be sure that you have found the service that is right for you.
