January 1, 2010, Newsletter Issue #30: Twitterpated: Job Searches Via Twitter

Tip of the Week

What is Twitter, and how can it help you find a permanent physician job? For the uninitiated, Twitter is a social networking website similar to a blog, but your updates are limited to 140 characters. Once you get used to it, Twitter can be another useful way to network with other professionals in your field.

From a professional job search standpoint, Twitter can be used in conjunction with LinkedIn or Facebook. And you can use your Twitter account to get a sense of the news at hospitals where you would like to work by following updates (“tweets”) from the growing number of hospital accounts. If you have a Twitter account or you are about to create one, search for “HospitalGroup” and follow it.

Twitter is not necessarily your only resource for physician job listings, but it can be one of many weapons in your physician job search arsenal. And increasing numbers of physician recruiting companies are using Twitter for physician job postings.
